I just saw this on the Korean iriver site. It looks like they're getting ready to announce the release of the 8gb Clix2. I don't read Korean but it may be the 11th or 12th of July.

Well, here's my 2 cents worth and a few Q's to boot:

From what the Korean site is promoting, it looks like the new 8 GB Clix2 will indeed be red. Too bad. I hate red ... red SuX! I know there are a few out there who like it, to each his own, but for me I say save red for the shirt colours of those crazy enough to attend the Running Of The Bulls! Hopefully the company may at least offer a couple other options later ... I would prefer a sleek silver/titanium or aqua blue, white is also good.

Since I'm at it with this whole colour thing, if the company ever reads these posts, here's a suggestion for a unique feature that could maybe be added in the future: how about having a translucent white material around the edge of the device (where the red is) with an LED light behind that glows in different colours that the user can choose in Settings on the device. That way, they could have whatever colour they like and Everyone would be happy! You could even make it (the light) strobe with the music. How cool would that be!? This would, of course, affect battery performance, but small LED lights are pretty long-lasting and very easy on power requirements nowadays. And an option could always be there to turn it off entirely.

Anyway, enough about colour options.

Onto the questions:

1 - I watched a few YouTube videos on demos of the Clix and noticed that the clicking of the left/right/top/bottom buttons on the screen were rather audible and quickly became rather annoying (and would probably bug people sitting near you as you scroll through options or even play a game). Is there a way of silencing the clicking sounds? Or is that a physical function of the device and, therefore, can't be turned on/off?

2 - Re/ viewing pix on the Clix: I see that it brings up names of the files and when hilighting a specific file, you get a thumbnail of it. Is it really only possible to view just one thumbnail at a time?? That would be pretty lame (and time consuming!) if that's the case. I saw on the Korean site near the bottom of the page for the new 8 GB'er ( 2007, ٸ ̸ ٰϴ. ) an image which suggests a full screen of thumbnail images. Can anyone confirm if this will in fact be a new feature or way of choosing from multiple images to view?

3 - How is Customer Support when dealing with this company? I know other companies like Archos may have great products, but if something goes wrong and you need to contact the company, you may as well just buy a new device instead of going through the rigamarole of trying to deal with their Support dept's. How is iriver for response times and satisfaction levels??

So far, from what I see with this product (aside from the colour and the clicky sound thing ... ya, I know, I'm picky), I'd say this is what I've been waiting for in a new ultra-portable media player and I'll buy this in a second over an iPod-schmipod!

1. The clicking is very exaggerated in videos, it sounds nowhere as loud as it does in them.

2. As far as I know it's just the one thumbnail, I don't see how it's very time consuming but if it gets your goat that much then you can make a theme with multiple thumbnails.

3. Different people have had different experiences with iriver CS, I've had very good encounters and some not so good ones. But there's always the iriver store for repair.

4. Welcome to Clixhere.

Thanks for the insight Mattman.

Guess all that's left to do is be patient til it comes out, eg. - do nothing. Hmm, probably one of the only times in life when it's difficult to actually do nothing! lol

Heya, just joined. Am considering buying an iRiver if they ever come out with the 8GB. Really hard to find anywhere in the UK to try out the Clix 2. Have had no luck finding one to demo.

Along with that I'm stuck with the thoughts of maybe trading in my old archos to get a discount for one of the new archos'. Probably due to the higher storage. Please convince me why the click is better :P

hmm.. i wasn't aware of warehouse123.com, thanks for that info. however i am disheartened by the price quoted on that site - $312? i was hoping it'd go for $250 or so. maybe i'll play the waiting game a little longer.

and the reason i posted the last comment was because it seems like the clixhere homepage hasn't been updated in ages.

cheers!

really?

is it really going to be $312 US? that's just too much for an 8gb mp3 player without wifi. does anyone know if theiriverstore will have them when this jeff gets back on the 12th? also will they be less expensive than $312? i just can spend that much money on only 8gb.

At the moment they are one of the limited stores that have 8gbs in stock, so they can price it as they please. Although you are getting some extras.
The iriver store (I can't guarentee) should be cheaper.
