How to get Youtube videos on my clix?

Short guide on how to get Youtube (or other video sharing website) videos onto your clix player (note: i'm using Vista and a clix 2 redline 8GB).

First, go here and add the bookmark to your browser. Now you can go to Youtube, find the video you want, and click the bookmark.

Download the link as instructed (it will be an .flv file). The file will be called get_video by default. Once it's finished downloading, you will need to add the .flv extension to the filename (just rename it and add .flv to the end).

Next, install and run Riva FLV Encoder to convert this into an .avi file (note: on Vista you may have to run in Windows XP Compatability mode and "Run as Administrator").

Under "Input Video", select the .flv file you have just downloaded. Chose the output directory where you want the converted .avi to be saved.

"Destination video file" will currently be the same filename as that which you downloaded from youtube (eg get_video.flv) so you need to change the extension to .avi for FLV to convert it (eg get_video.avi).

Fiddle with the settings if you want, but I leave them as default. Now click "Encode" and wait until you recieve the completed message in the "Result" box at the bottom.

Now we need to make this .avi file ready for our clix player. For this use iriverter. Download, install and run the program.

Click JOBS > NEW > SINGLE VIDEO and select the new .avi we have just encoded. Go to OPTIONS > DEVICE > IRIVER and select clix. By default, iriverter will create the new .avi file with exactly the same filename, but with .u10 appended to the end.

Click the convert button and iriverter will now convert the .avi ready for your clix player (note: if the conversion is almost instantaneous and no output file is created, you will need to put the source .avi file into a deeper folder system. When I tried to use a file which was on my desktop I had this problem, but upon burying it within some folders (eg "My Documents, My Videos, Conversion Videos" or somesuch created folders) it worked perfectly).

You can now simply drag and drop your new .avi file and enjoy Youtube on your clix!
