I'm almost tempted to open mine up because after getting it back from RMA to replace a screen that got damaged on the 2nd day of owning the thing (was in my pocket, and my shorts dropped quickly.. don't ask..). Anyway, the screen is pretty loose and wiggly now and feels real cheap. Maybe if I disassemble it I can reassemble it better than iriveramerica did

The screen will feel lose because that's how it works.

My iriver screen got unhinged the other day when I bumped into a table. I managed to open it up following m4tt8's instructions, but I cannot figure out how to put it back together. Does anybody have any advice?

Hi Noodle, Any particular issue with following the disassembly instructions in reverse order? Could you specify what the problem is? Thanks.

I'm quite interested. My Clix's screen went wild with jumble lines this morning before settling on a grey/yellow pattern with a kind of a gradient and a one millimeter black transversal line... I would look at it as a sharp minimalistic design if I wasn't worried about my indispensable portable sound machine. The buttons are unresponsive - i can't turn it off/on or anything. Pluging it in doesn't help.

There was no particular shock, bump or abuse. I fell asleep on it last night but that's all. I had a couple instances of frozen screen recently but was able to turn the machine off/on and it worked.

Now, as a first step, I'm thinking of letting the battery deplete completely so the machine gets off and hopefully it will restarts once recharged. I have little choice anyway, since i can't turn the thing off. Hopefully it will recharge. If not, the second step may be disassembly to check any loose wiring. Then, I expect, reassembly.

Any advice appreciated here too.

B

UPDATE: Plan A worked. the clix went off after fully discharging the battery and turned on fine after recharging a bit. Pfff... so relieved I won't need to open its belly yet!

Careful!

May i recommend people who open up their Clix are extremely careful when it comes to the strips of pins that connect the two halves (each strip is covered in a piece of white plastic - you can see them in the 3rd image). I was taking my zen micro apart a while back and one of the pieces of plastic came off. I bent some pins putting it back on (it was nigh on impossible!) and when i bent them back the battery drained away to nowhere. Now they have broken off and it wont even turn on.
At least i can get an 8GB Clix to replace it now

I dropped my Clix 2. The audio still works, but the screen now has lines -- some thick, some thin -- across the width of the screen. I can barely make out the text in the background. Adjusting the brightness of the screen doesn't make a big difference. I followed the disassembly instructions and tried to make sure the screen was well-connected to the board, but the problem is still there. Any other ideas for fixing this? Thanks.

After replacing the front again, I recognized that the micro buttons didn't really work fine anymore. After opening and mounting it like 10 times I did not really see a big success. The clicking did still not work smooth like it was at the first day I received it. After playing a bit around, I recognized that you have to slighly lift all the 4 edges with your finger nail (one by one) and push the front a bit to the left and right. In the end, this worked for me very well to get it back to a smooth clicky operation.

I just thought to post this, in case someone encounters a similar problem.
By the way, I am still very surprised the plastic didnt brake, this bugger seems more robust than I thought it would be

lol you should bought a case by the way if u live in australia or NZ go to MP3 Players, Apple iPod, Nano, Minidisc Australia, Mp3, Creative Zen, Headphones and they are selling clix2 tango BLACK iriver cases(which arent on the iriverstore) for only $49 + post which is 12 = overnight express i bought 1 and its great!

I saw 4 square transparent pieces at the top part of the player on the images (they are located directly on the "big metal part"). I think they click on the 4 buttons of d-click system. And I have a question: these pieces are made of plastic?

I saw no warranty seals on photo. How in the service center determined that clix was opened before?

after disassembling your clix... does it feel looser than before..? will it leave screwdriver marks (that can be seen outside)..? because i feel like switching the redline 8gb with my brothers black 4gb... just because i want the pure black case...

I dropped my Clix 2 and it popped almost completely open. The screen worked ok even with it in 2 pieces, but now that I've put it back together, I can't see anything on the screen. Audio doesn't work either. I'm going to try to open it again, what did I do wrong in putting it back together?
