ep-630 and mdr-v250

Well, I have creative ep-630 and SONY MDR-V250 dynamic headphones ;] While on EP SRS WOW HD sounds terribly - there is definetly too much high tones, not enough mids etc, on MDR's it's the best it can do - they have difficulty generating high tones, so the definition setting is just perfect.

My settings for ep-630:
  • EQ: Mostly Ubass, also Rock, sometimes Normal
Settings for SONY MDR-V250:
  • SRS WOW HD:
    • SRS: 10
    • TruBass: 10
    • FOCUS: 7
    • WOW: 3
    • Definition: 9
That's what I hear ;]

Talking

I have the Crossroads Mylarone X3 earphones. Does anyone else have them? What SRS WOW HD settings do you have on your Clix 2?

I've tried various mixes and so far I couldn't really get a good mix. Any suggestions?

Total Clix 2 repairs:
1 - Headphone plug internals loose causing mono sound output (sent to service center and fixed).
2 - Screen lost image due to loose signal wire (sent to service center and fixed).

Yep...Ive got the X3! you are not alone my friend...what an awsome set of IEMs. I suggest everybody gets a set of these...quite amazin!

SRS: 9
TruBass: 9
FOCUS: 8
WOW: 2
Definition: 4

Obviously above settings will depend primarily on your own ears...but hopefully these settings will push you the right direction with X3's. A few tweaks here and there the sound will become more clearer!

Tried tuning with a mixture of tunes...and set the Clix2 volume to between 10 and 15

Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight (drums kick in quite well )
James Blunt - 1973 (Pop)
Kanye West - Stronger (Bass)
Pharrell Williams - Can I Have It Like That (Bass)
Amy Whitehouse - Valerie (Album Version) (Acoustic)

Found it quite hard to tune the SRS settings to a mixture of musical styles...

Handy to have a feature in future firmware that allows you to save different EQ settings...for each Album or Folder.

If I never found this thread i may never have found out how good SRS HD can be...so thanks everyone!!

Definitive SRS WOW HD Settings for OEM Phones

Okay... now im posting the definitive SRS WOW HD Settings for the OEM Phones that cames with the Clix2...

The method that i´ve used was... a good pair of ears... a good set of references tracks... modern darkpsy trance tracks... that its based on timbres and frequency, so i can get a excentric balance of objective/subjective reference...

so i´ve started with some definitive settings, this is obviously Trubass 10 and Wow 1... because Wow 2 its too low-mid ... and Trubass 10 its heavylicious...

Okay
then ive started using a technique... putting srs focus and definition to 1. and started to play with that
starting with srs.. then ... focus.. then definition...
so ive ended with 7 10 5 1 8
ive wrote this down on a paper
(observation: ive regulated always changing between the best reference tracks that i have on the clix)

Then after ive perceived that srs opens (widen) some peculiar mid frequencies (like a stereo imaging)...

and focus its like a mid high
and definition the highest

ive started differently...
ive started with the definition first...
then focus... but ive perceived that srs is more important first... because its likely a 'reverb', and focus its more harsh mid...
then ive went to srs, then back to focus

okay.. ive wrote down... and interestingly ive got something one point minus

6
10
4
1
7

note, the difference on the first profile, ive got srs 7 then on second srs 6... same for focus 5 then 4... and definition 8 then 7..

its definitively the most flat thing you can get for general listening (including the modern tracks)... using the OEM Clix2 phones...

i will get a sennheiser cx300 phones this month, so i will post the definitions for it...

With my X3s the SRS WOW HD sounds great, but through my logitech R20 (speakers) it does sound a little shitty.

A very interesting read about iriver and SRS WOW HD.
Worth looking at.

EDIT
I've been playing around with the SRS WOW HD settings and listening to:
'The Enemy' by Roadrunner United.
'Aces High' by Children of Bodom.
'Hole In the Earth' by Deftones.
'Spit it out' by Slipknot.

They're metal (which I mainly listen to) but the bass is quite punchy.

SRS: 5
TruBass: 6
FOCUS: 10
WOW: 2
Definition: 7

I'm using Crossroad Mylarones X3 IEM from the iriver store.
Sounds good to me.

generally, i think EQ sucks. No matter what phones i use on my clix (2nd gen, black, 4gb), it sounds extremely baaad! EQ simply does not work for me. But then i discovered the amazing SRS WOW HD. It's an amazing technology. With good settings, it cannot be compared to anything else. Here are the settings i use; they're the best (tested for several weeks, asked a lot of persons), no matter what kind of music u listen to:

SRS: 6
TruBass: 10
FOCUS: 2
WOW: 1
Definition: 8

Test them . I can assure u u'll love 'em :P.
cheers all

Post Your Sound Settings!

Hello guys.. just to keep it simple.. As per any music playback device, an amplifier is required for play and YES the clix has an amplifier tucked away inside it's tiny casing (believe it or not).

My personal setting for listening to music are as follows:
-SRS = 10
-TRUBASS = 10
-FOCUS = 10
-WOW = 1
-Definition = 10

I'm no audiophile but I personally think these settings are quite balanced and sharp.

I'm interested to try out your posted 'sound settings' to hear the differences

Thanks, Jordan.

For use with my Sure e2c phones:

TruBass = 10
Focus = 1
WOW = 1
