Again, i got to use an ipod this weekend. Not a bad experience, but I was amazed at the inferior-to-my-ears sound quality. I have been spoiled with SRS WOW. I am in no way an audiophile, and SRS just sounds AMAZING.
Now i really can't stand to listen to music unless it has an SRS plugin running through, and everything else sounds inferior. Just shows, there's such a thing as too much of a good thing. I don't think I'd be able to live with music without SRS

even without SRS running, the sound quality of iriver players (so far i've used a H320, T20, H10 e10 and of course, the clix2) still destroys that of ipods. the sound reproduction is just too dull with very little definition in both bass and treble. even my old meizu players sounded better than ipods without the use of any sound enhancements and with stock earphones too.
i have found that the clix2's SRS HD was a great improvement over the SRS in the E10. i dont know how anyone could consider the SRS HD enhancement as 'ass'. fyi i use both SRS HD and custom EQ dependant on the genre of music/audio file that i'm listening to.

I have to agree with Drak0...
I'm using nice Etymotic Research ER6i earbuds and SRS WOW HD sounds awful -- like a more than a couple of channels are dead on my graphic equalizer! SRS must be have been developed for phones.
I've got the Custom EQ set up where it sounds pretty good.

I use the EP630's and the "Rock" EQ works fine for me. I previously had Senn CX300 and v-moda Vibes, and HAD TO USE (as in, practically no choice) SRS WOW to overcome the muddy mids and over-bloated bass in those 'phones.
But with the Creatives, I am in regular old "Rock" EQ and happy as a pig in sh!t.
I agree with the other posters that SRS WOW is designed to overcome limitations in sub-par phones. With a decent pair of cans, SRS-WOW (depending on settings) sounds like listening to music through a tin can.

Also using Sennheiser cx300
SRS = 3
Trubass = 9
FOCUS = 10
WOW = 2
Definition = 10
Adjust volume carefully.
(I no longer use SRS WOW as I now have Livewires T1 in ear phones. Custom EQ is the way to go with quality phones. I'll put my Livewire Custom EQ settings in a new post)

I've got the V-Moda Vibes. They are a bit strong in the bass area, so I'd like to use the EQ settings to turn it down. Thank God
For now though, I'm just focusing on burning my Vibes in. It'll be done in like 8 hours. Oh well.

I prefer the SRS by far, returning to a preset eq just sounds like listening to a speaker that's behind a wall. The battery life is concerning though. I think I will listen to a preset when riding a bus or such, I've noticed how hard it is to listen to the bass in a car with srs.

I have v-moda vibes on my iHP-120 and the srs does sound pretty hollow. I use Custom Presets and it sounds Great. The Ultra Bass setting is crazy with the vibes it sounds like if im in the club.

I've now had time to play around and have 2 settings I'm happy with...try them out if you're using Sennheiser cx300's.
I'm happiest with the Custom EQ setting out of the two
50: 10
200: 3
1K: 9
3K: 7
14K: 10
But for electronic music this rocks!
SRS = 3
Trubass = 9
FOCUS = 10
WOW = 2
Definition = 10

I have a pair of Sennheiser cx300 and prefer custom EQ as they seem to be a bit too much on bass.

Through my earphones (Sony MDR-ED21LP) the normal sound is better than the SRS WOW HD. It is not as whole a sound with any combination i have tried.

i really thought SRS WOW was useless until i started messing around with some stuff... and it's weird how each setting sounds like a certain EQ bar.
for me, TruBass is the low (obviously), WOW is the mid, and Definition is the highs. SRS and FOCUS seem to just affect the clarity of the sounds. After messing with them to my liking, i easily noticed that SRS WOW HD was much clearer than Custom EQ, which sounded really muddy after getting used to the SRS WOW HD effects.
SRS: 3
TruBass: 6
FOCUS: 6
WOW: 3
Definition: 7
and i mainly listen to any rock (mostly j-rock)
and like my sig says, i'm using a pair o' Etymotic ER-6i's

I am listening to Dragonforce (My Spirit Will Go On) @320kpbs on my Sennheiser 280HDs with the volume at 17. My SRS HD is as follows: SRS = 8 TruBass = 6 FOCUS = 10 WOW = 2 Definition = 9 It sounds absolutely awesome.
