Here's a nice video on Youtube showing the beautiful difference between the new Clix2 AMOLED screen and the LCD screen:

That video was great. The middle device (phone i think). With the tiny screen sticking out of the top really did look great (except the screen would smash so easily ).

leet, tho i still can't understand why didn't they enlarge the size of the screen in clix2. thers that ugly black-space left im sure they'd be ale to fit in like 2,5' one.

mdscriber3, here is a video i posted on misticriver showing the difference between the clix2's AMOLED screen and the Cowon D2's LCD.

http://www.betanews.net/article/363021

Tacoome, there is a very good reason why the OLED screen is 2.2" even though the display could easily handle a bigger screen: the manufacturer of the screen, Samsung SDI, just started creating OLEDs a few months ago. They aren't ready to manufacture anything bigger than 2.2 inches yet, although soon they will be ramping up to 3" and 4" etc.

wow.. that last video was fantastic. If i ever hear anyone compare the two screens.. easy to just redirect them there . There is far too much glare etc on the D2, couldnt see anything.

That last video indeed did the AMOLED promoting justice. I've seen many pics of the differences between AMOLED and LCD, but I never really saw any differences. This video on the other hand, really showed the power of AMOLED screen. I definitely saw the clarity, rich, vivid, and bright colors iriver was boasting about - great video!

It is kind of hard to get full details on a lossy video like that, but at least the color saturation, brightness and viewing angle is FAR supperior, especially the stand comparing AMOLED with TFT-LCD (the other stand, the viewing angle one, I'm not sure about the other screen). If it is so vibrant as it looks it is (and with a fraction of the power consuption), then I'm all for it

AMOLED sure looks better in that video; looks more vibrant and no viewing angle issue.
However, I'm wondering if viewing angle is even a issue on a small screen like that - I mean it's not like a 40" tv that I'll be watching from an angle from time to time, and I don't really want people in the subway looking at my screen.

IMHO viewing angles are a BIG DEAL even on a tiny screen. I have owned a small iPaq PDA for years, and it drove me crazy how the screen was unwatchable and unusable even a few degrees off of center. It's ridiculous.

I am very happy to sacrifice a tiny amount of privacy ( other people who can see my screen ) in exchange for better colors, better efficiency, and better viewing angles.

How about a comparison of the clix2 with the Cowon D2? I'll try to muster one up since I received my D2 today...

I can tell you that the viewing angle issue is somewhat of a big deal since on the D2 you cannot see the screen well from a top or bottom angle... from the bottom it's dark and from the top it's washed out.

Ok... That was kind of unexpected, the screen on the Clix2 is brighter, more colorful and has overall better deffinition than that of the Cowon D2.

Sorry bout' that....

My initial impressions of the D2 are... it's ok.

Nothing surprised me about the player, the screen is average to above average but not on the same level as the clix2. The things the D2 has going for it have been beat like a dead horse but here they are again.

FLAC
Battery Life
SD Slot

That's about it in my book. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice player but all the hype is not justified in my opinion.

I threw 5 movies on the player from my clix2... The D2 choked on one and would not play it. So I tried it on my clix 1st gen., played fine, threw it on my Maxian T600, Archos 604, Archos 500 and Cowon A2 and it played fine on all.... not sure what trouble the D2 had with it... my $.02
