Neither the firmware updater (2.6) nor iriver plus3 will recognize my 4gb clix 2. The firmware updater used to recognize it and the iriver plus3 never has.

Also, when the updater was recognizing the clix, I wanted to upgrade from 1.11 to 1.12 (which iriver.com said was the latest firmware), but the updater told me that 1.11 was the latest. Iriver "tech support" couldn't figure out why this was happening. Perhaps someone here can help me to get the updater to recognize the clix and to upgrade to the most recent firmware (I know there are workarounds to get the firmware that's not listed on the iriver site, but this is an update that they say exists, so it should be easy to download via their software, shouldn't it?).

Let go back to basic first: MTP mode needs MTP furmware updater; UMS mode needs iriver plus 3 - pick the one you should use.

Second, reset/restart your clix2 and PC, try another USB port. Make sure you PC can 'see' your clix2 before attempting any update.

Third, from your older post I figure you are using the Rhapsody firmware. At this point of time you should have realize it is a different firmware, therefore v1.11 is the latest. If you haven't figure that out, you need to read more.
