No, it IS official, it's just not on the firmware updater program yet, look at it as if it were a BETA version and you're testing it out....

Okay, let's back up a few steps and go over some bacics...
The site that cleos posted a link to is not an official iriver site. What it does is monitor iriver's download servers and post direct links to firmware revisions. These are the exact same files that iriver's firmware updater uses. Normally this gives you an easy way to be notified of new revisions and an easy way to aquire them without the updater.
However, the firmware updater uses specific heuristics to find the "right" firmware for your device. The way this version is posted will not be automatically matched with anything. So iriver could have posted it assuming that no one would ever get it until they released a new (rhapsody specific?) updater. So that means that you are taking a risk using it without knowing the release notes with could include something like "use this only if you are a rhapsody customer. Installing this update will convert your clix to ..."
I didn't mean for my earlier statement to cause panic, I just wanted people to be aware of what they were doing. I just verified that I was able to roll back from 1.08 to 1.07 without issue, but this is the type of thing is easily blocked so until someone actually tried you really had no idea if it were possible or not.

Onpened up my computer and i cant drop it into clix, i can drop it in any sub folder ( i know its pointless) But cant drop it in root. Help plz

From the FAQ:
Quote:
Open My Computer
Open the Clix
WMP10: Open the data folder
WMP11: Open the root storage
Copy the hex file that you unzipped into this folder.
Unplug your device.
After the firmware update has completed, format your device.
Transfer your content back to it.
|
WMP10 and WMP11 behave differently when using the shell. Since you are on Vista you need to follow the WMP11 set.

Are you sure it is the folder that have all the other folders inside it? It should be called 'iriver clix files' or something like it.

I can't think of any reason why that wouldn't be allowed according to what you have posted, but I can't try it right now. (Computer is recording a show and I can't reboot into Vista.) To work around it, switch your clix to MSC (UMS) mode and then upgrade the firmware that way. After it is done you can put it back in MTP mode.
Thsi will format your clix, but you would have had to do that anyway.
