Has anyone else been asked by iRiver Plus 3 to upgrade their firmware to 1.21?

v1.21 has three bugfix:
1) Sync error with Juke On/Dosirak Player fixed.

2) Fixed the problem of unable to see game donload from xxx.swf.oled.net in games folder.

3) Fixed problem with Windows Vista DRM.

Clieos, does the 1.21 firmware support all the Rhapsody functions (channels etc.) or do you need a special Rhapsody firmware update such as occurred during the 1.17 round for that? Just wondering, because I may have to work with Vista in the near future, but did want to lose out Rhapsody-wise.

Firmware v1.21 isn't fully Rhapsody compatible. The Rhapsody firmware hasn't get updated as far as I know.

It says my firmware is up to datw which is not obviously. I am using 1.16 but it is so determined to tell it is the latest one... Where can I get 1.21 working on my Clix without pain? (There is a problem with browsing songs, it is so slow going between them)

If you have any letters after the version of your firmware, then you have a localised version. Mine was 1.14EU when I first got it. Iriver plus 3 would update to 1.16EU but not to 1.17 (because there was no 1.17EU available).

There are no real differences between the EU version and the standard one that I can see. I expect the radio region would have been Europe at default instead of US but I never checked. Perhaps some localisations have a different default language (the French version probably has, as there are some French specific firmwares. Keep in mind that odd laws in France (not the whole EU as some think, it is just sometimes cheaper for an EU device to conform to this French law to be sold all over the EU) mean that the French version probably has a lower volume max. It's a shame the French chap that came up with that gag hadn't heard of resistance) but otherwise they seem the same.

Go to the sticky on this thread to download the latest firmware. Follow the upgrade procedure in the stickies TO THE LETTER to avoid slow-downs.

From now on iriver plus 3 should offer you the latest generic firmware when one becomes available. Remember, ALWAYS format the player after upgrading and then rebuild the library.

One question before I format my Clix2 for upgrade - is there any way in which I can back-up my playlists on the device?
