Firmware Updating

Dumb Question of the Day/ (Sorry)

Is it safe to assume that by updating firmware, I'll need to re-download all my subscribed (Rhapsody) music content? I am about to install 1.17 to see if I can get Channels working. Cannot get it working on 1.15
