Hi,

Does anyone know if updating the player's firmware would erase the original contents of the player? I want to know if I have to backup the original stuff before doing the firmware update. I have the Clix gen 2. Thanks in advance.

It will indeed; the update will format your player.

Thats really weird, why would they not mention to backup the original programs and stuff on their update site?

It'll warn you in the firmware update program, I believe.

It doesn't format your player with the firmware update but you need to format your player afterwards.

As Peter Griffin would say, "this is friggin' sweet" and that's exactly what my Clix is. It even shipped with the newest 1.14 firmwire so no need to update anything. Kudos to Iriver! Best, and sexiest, player out there!

hey i wanna ask whoever has done a firmware update.. is it risky at all. since it reinstalls and updates the operating system of the clix could it pose future problems or is it a safe procedure (i would probably be updating with the program supplied with my clix the firmware updater)

The latest firmware has been out for a while and has been tested by iriver and users and it's been fine.
Just follow instructions and you'll be fine.

hey mattman thx alot dude, i followed the instructions by Clix from your sig and managed to upgrade my firmware from 1.07 to 1.14 hehe - as u can prob immagine im sayin wow some cool new features xD like the games with music fix (which i was previously hoping could work ) cheers dude
