Napster and 1st Gen Clix Album Art
*I'VE ALSO POSTED ASKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THE CLIX MISTICRIVER FORUMS*
Hi All
I did this hack from this site: The Frustrated Programmer: Fixing Napster Album Art
And it worked good but only if I was using WMP11 to transfer my Napster To Go subscription tracks to the Clix1.
However, is there a way to transfer tracks and album art through the Napster Client and not have to use WMP11? I love to just be able to take playlists created through Napster (I like their radio-to-playlist feature) which creates the playlist in Napster and then I can just drag and drop it to the Clix1. But sadly, it won't transfer album art.
After running the hack above and having it save the folder.jpg files on my hard drive, if I use Napster to then run the transfer of the playlist to my Clix1, Napster saves the *.alb files to the individual ARTIST/ALBUM directories on the Clix1 and not to the Clix1 top level ALBUM directory where it seems the album art files reside.
Any tips or tricks or hacks or am I doomed to not be able to use Napster to transfer playlists to my Clix1?

When you see the .alb file under artist\album does it show the art or not?

I can't tell ... the file won't open or show anything. I've tried copying it to my computer and using a photo editing program to see what is in it but it won't open it.

If you don't see the thumbnail in the shell when viewing the device then the album art was never sent. It can be tricky to diagnose an application like this because they can make internal decisions like "if the file is not WMA, don't send" or "if the file isn't from our service, don't send" that I would never see in the debugger. Still I can try to take a look at it this weekend to see what is happening, it may be a simple configuration problem or they may be making a mistake in the way they are sending the data.

Thanks Ted
Yeah, I don't see any image no matter where I look.
But I did get a reply from Napster about the issue (of course, this is Tier1 support through email). Looks like I will be canceling my subscription after all ... LOL
Thank you for contacting Napster Support.

Looks like I lied. Napster will no longer allow you to do anything with their application unless you have an account. (By anything I mean add content to the library ect.) Since I already did a free trial from them a little while ago for a similar circumstance I think they'll start to wonder if I do it again.

Yeah, that's true. I don't even think you can download their software unless you have an account ... LOL
I did a free trial a while ago, too, and couldn't do another one, so I had to pay for it for the month.
Thanks for tryin', though.
