Clix + Headphone Amp = ???
I would really like to get a headphone amp, because I have lots of different listening options I would like to use. But after sifting through MR threads, I am still confused.
This is the headphone amp I'm looking at getting.
Can I get a cable to put directly into my headphone jack and use the Headphone amp with it?
or Do I have to get the Cradle?
or Is there no way?
Thanks,
Matt.

Is there a budget limit for your headphone amp?
The one you are looking at are not for portable use. If you are willing to spend a bit more, I recommend either a PengAmp or a LDM+, both on ebay (and I have deal with them before). PengAmp will be my first choice.

Yeah, I do kind of have a budget, due to being young, not having a real job, but my main question was, if I do end up getting one of the amps, how do I use it with my clix?

You properly only need a stereo cable (male to male) to connect your clix to the amp, that's all. The cable can be easily found in DSE or Tandy.

I had got a deal off of a guy called CMoy (Hence the name CMoy amp) I bought it for $30 via paypal to paypal with him and it's very nice :P.. I was able to trick the kids in school into thinking it was a tazer (sp).. If you want I can find his email for you!!

The PengAmp up there is also an improved version of CMoy. The best place to hunt for a cheap CMoy is actually Head-fi.org.

Hmm, I kinda like the idea of the behringer, of multiple input. Or do these 2 have it?
Thanks

Does that one have one or two outputs?
From what I can see there is three ports, is one input and the other two output. Or one power, one input, one output? Or one volume, one input, one output?

I have used the Boostaroo amp with my Clix and Sony MDRv6 phones (64 ohm). The amp is powered by 2 AA batteries. It has 3 jacks, so you can power 3 phones at the same time. It also has an on/off switch. Sound quality is excellent (transparent, except for the volume boost), as is the battery life. Radio Shack sells the same amp under their name, but the case is black instead of clear plastic. In the clear version, you can see an LED to remind you that it is turned on. It comes with a hard-wired cable that has a mini plug, so no additional cables are needed. Price is about $25.00 U.S.
I give it 10 stars.

I different that.
It is really a volume booster, not a headphone amplifier in soul. There has been some criticism ( here and here, there are more) on the low quality parts used in them which distort sound.

The OP indicated that price was an issue. Also, I was a teleproduction technican for 10 years, and have a degree in Radio, Television and Film production. Bottom line is that I know good sound and bad sound when I hear it (that's why I bought a Clix instead of an iPod, and why I still have my 25 year old Sony MDRv6 phones (in addition to the Sure e2c I just got), which are STILL the industry standard for studio and location recording). Anyway, despite what the critics have said, I can state without a doubt that there is no distortion of the sound caused by this unit. Any distortion heard is already present in the source, but may be more obvious because it is now louder. There is also no "coloring" of the sound.
As to the quality- the wire on mine started to go bad. I called Boostaroo. They had me return the unit, and immediately sent me a replacement.
For $25, you can't beat it.

This Boostaroo does look like a good candidate, althought the Behringer will be cheaper (I live in Aus) and has more output.
Thanks for your help guys and I'll keep my eye out for all 4 recommended amps, plus the one that I specified.
Ill keep my ears open here aswell and I'll post back if I do end up getting one.
