Using Clix with cradle in car

Just wondering if I could use my clix/cradle in the car? I have gotten the IGO A82 adapter and wouold like to put them all to use to listen to audio books while traveling. Any suggestions. I love my Clix so far. Have only sync'd it once-at the beginning-and just had to have my computer's hard drive formatted so I guess I will have to start at the beginning or can I back up the books and songs from the Clix to the hard drive (WMP)?
Thanks for any help you might be able to give.
Sr. Jane

I don't know of a way to get content from Clix to Computer using WMP (if anyone knows how, I'd love to hear too!) But If you have WMP11 installed, when you plug in your Clix, go to:

My Computer> Iriver Clix > Iriver Clix Files

And there are all the folders with the music and videos, games, text files, recordings, and AUDIBLE files. Just copy and paste to a desired place on your hard drive. You can then move the files into WMP and sync using that

WARNING: Do not delete content from your Clix from Windows Explorer. Always use WMP. It won't damage the Clix as far as I know, but the next time you sync the clix with WMP after deleting with Explorer, the database will most likely be screwed up and will lag, big time. And another thing, if you switch off between using WMP11 and WMP10 with your clix, it will also mess with the internal database. Must be something different between the 2 programs in the way that they sync data.

Hope some of that helped

Yes, you can backup your files by copy and paste, but DRM songs will not works this way since the old license is gone (and you won't be able to play it on the new Windows, obviously). I don't have DRM songs and I backup my clix all the time by C&P. Just remember to sync back your songs by WMP11 (and Audible by Audible Manager), other files can be C&P back.

Copy and paste songs into clix by Explorer is not recommended, it increases the chance of of database corruption. Sync by both WMP10 and WMP11 is NOT recommended, as the two use different data organization and you will mess things up big time - stick to just one of them.

P/S: Whether your copy of Windows is valid or not, the above still stand true.

Clix/cradle in car

Thanks for your help. My original question was about the possibility of using the Clix/cradle in the car. Is there any way to power it thru the cig. lighter(?) so that I can listen to the audio tapes when driving?

It is possible, but it will require some mod on the cradle and a 12V to 5V car adapter.
