Hmm, the very age-old question concerning formating...

Not formating after firmware update often results in lagging on music / video playback or extremely slow navigation respond because the older database won't get updated along side with the firmware. Therefore you need to format the player in order to 'clean out' all the old database and allows your clix to rebuild a new one according to the new firmware. You might or might not face this problem, but it is a very common problem that happens frequently to users who choose not to format, so why take the chance? Leaving it as it is essentially just turns it into an unpredictable time bomb.
Now as we told you why you should format, the rest is up to you.

In fact, when I updated my clix1 few days ago I forgot to format it afterward, than all my album art were messed up. Than I formated the player and everything works fine now.
